Republic Day Violence: Family of deceased farmer Navrat Singh reaches Delhi High Court for SIT probe

The family of 25-year-old farmer Nvrit Singh, who died after allegedly turning a tractor at an ITO in Delhi during a farmers’ tractor parade on the Republic Day, has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court on Wednesday.

The petition filed in the High Court on behalf of Hardeep Singh, the grandfather of the deceased, is expected to be listed for hearing on Thursday. Hardeep Singh in his petition stated that he had the right to know the truth with the proper and fair investigation and justice of his grandson’s death.

The police said that the tractor rolled over the ITO which reached the Gazipur border with several farmers for a demonstration outside the path of a predetermined tractor parade.

In connection with the incident, police say Navarita Singh was buried under tractor demolition, which led to her death. However, according to eyewitness accounts, the renegade was driving his tractor and when he was passing by the Andhra Education Society of New Delhi, he was allegedly shot and lost control of the police and his tractor was flipped after hitting some barricades.

In a petition filed by lawyers Vrinda Grover, Soutik Banerjee, Mannat Tipnis and Devika Tulsiani, Navarta’s grandfather has requested that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) appointed by the court and supervise the case be investigated. Who is honest and effective.

He urged the SIT to regularly submit the progress report to the court so that the investigation can be completed in a timely manner under the supervision of the court.

It has been requested to create the Delhi Government Housing Department, Indraprastha Estate Police Station, Bilaspur Police Station in Uttar Pradesh and Chief Medical Officer of the Rampur District Hospital.
