Republic: What’s new and missing in this time’s parade? Read every info

The Republic Day is almost over, and just like every year, the country is gearing up to showcase its military potential this year. This year, some changes have been made to the January 26 annual parade. This year’s celebration is a bit different from the celebration caused by the corona epidemic. Learn what’s new and what’s missing from this year’s R-Day parade

What’s new at this year’s parade:

1. Rafael fighter jets, which were purchased from France in September last year and joined the Indian Air Force (IAF), will march for the first time. This time the Air Force comprises 11 of the 36 raffle jets ordered by France.

2. A female fighter pilot also appears at this time’s parade. One of India’s first female fighter pilots, Flight Lieutenant Bhavana Kant, will be part of the IAF’s table, which will handle mock-ups of light fighter aircraft (LCAs), light combat helicopters (LCHs) and Sukhoi-30 fighter jets.

3. The Bangladesh Armed Forces Troop, consisting of 122 soldiers, will also take part in the procession. The first two countries to participate in the R-Day parade were France (2016) and the UAE (2017).

4. A replica of the Ram Temple is on the Uttar Pradesh table which is currently under construction in Ayodhya. The Supreme Court, which paved the way for the construction of the shrine, ended its decades-old land dispute case in November 2019.

What’s Missing:

1. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was to come to India but his arrival was canceled due to increasing corona affairs in the UK. This is the first R-Day parade without a chief guest in more than five decades. Boris Johnson initially accepted India’s offer but was forced to cancel his visit. Earlier in India, the 1952, 1953 and 1966 processions were not the main guests.

2. Last year there were 150,000 viewers but now it has been reduced to 25,000. The number of media persons has been reduced from 300 to 200.

3. Unlike previous years, this time the parade only goes to the national stadium at the C-hexagon of India Gate. Only the table goes to the red fort.

4. Completely canceled events include parades of veterans and women veterans, as well as motorcycle adventures of Army and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) soldiers.

5. No child below the age of 15 is allowed on India Gate Lawn. Also, there will be no enclave for school children this year.
