SA vs. WI: Keshav Maharaj becomes the second bowler in South Africa to claim a hat-trick

Keshav Maharaj pushed the Caribbean team to a loss based on their spin in the second Test between West Indies and South Africa. Keshav completed the first hat-trick of his Test career by dismissing three consecutive West Indies batsmen. He is only the second South African bowler to have got a hat-trick in Test cricket. South Africa are just four wickets away from victory.

Keshav Maharaj stepped up batsman Kiren Powell in the third delivery of the 37th over, then sent Jason Holder to the pavilion without opening an account. Maharaj, who took two wickets in two balls, completed the first hat-trick of his Test career by dismissing Joshua de Silva in the third delivery. South Africa scored 298 in the first innings, in response, the entire West Indies were bowled out for just 149 runs. However, the West Indies bowlers regained control and bowled South Africa to 174 in the second innings.

West Indies’ Kemar Roach bowled superbly, taking four wickets in the second innings while Kyle Meyer took three wickets. Chasing a target of 324, the Caribbean team lost their six wickets until the break of six and only scored 109 on the scoreboard. Kagiso Rabada has taken three wickets so far. South Africa won the first Test by an innings and 63 runs.
