Indian boxer Sanjeet (91kg) won the gold medal at the Asian Championships in Dubai. Sanjeet Vasily defeated Levitt in the final. However, in the final, Shiva Thapa (64kg) and Amit Pangal (52kg) lost. Amit also used the criticism against the verdict, but it was rejected.

Sanjeet defeated Olympic silver medalist Levitt 4-0. Rio Olympic gold medalist and world champion Joirov Shakhobidin of Uzbekistan defeated Ye Pangal 3-2 in the final of the 2019 World Championships. India sought reconsideration of the Pangal defeat which was rejected by a judge. In the second round, Pangal completely sank when he delivered a broken verdict on behalf of the opposition boxer.
