SC hearing today on waiver of interest on interest

The next hearing by the Supreme Court in the Lone Moratorium case will be on 13 October today. In the hearing last week, the Supreme Court said that the affidavit filed by the Center regarding the ‘Interest on Interest’ pardon is not satisfactory. Now the court has asked the Central Government and Reserve Bank of India to file a fresh affidavit. In the affidavit filed earlier, the central government had asked to waive ‘interest on interest’ on loans up to Rs 2 crore. The bench said in its order that the affidavit is not judicial with several issues raised in various petitions. The other two judges in the bench are Justice R Subhash Reddy and Justice MR Shah.
