Share Marekt: Stock market slump, Sensex fell 1939 points

Amid the downturn in global markets, the stock market has seen a sharp fall in the prices of many large companies. Today, on the last trading day of the week, the Sensex fell 1939 points, or 3.80 per cent, to 49,099. At the same time, the Nifty dipped 568 points to close at 14,529.15. All the Sensex stocks closed below the red mark today.

On the Sensex, ONGC, M&M and Bajaj Fin fell over 6%. Bajaj Finance, HDFC, PowerGrid, Kotak Bank and Axis Bank were down more than five per cent. Nestle India, Maruti Suzuki, HUL and Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, M&M, SBI, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries and Tech Mahindra were also down.

The Sensex traded down by over 1000 points at the opening of the stock market this morning, but is now trading at 49,520, down 1519 points.

The stock market closed yesterday with the increase

The stock market closed higher yesterday. Both sesanx-nifty were covered in green. The Sensex gained 257 points to close at 51,039.31, while the Nifty gained 115.35 points to close at 15097.35. Foreign Investment Investors (FPIs) remain net buyers in the capital market. He raised Rs 188.08 crore on Thursday.
