Sonu Sood appeals to Supreme Court for illegal construction case in Mumbai residence

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has withdrawn his petition from Mumbai’s Supreme Court for illegal construction. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Sharad Aravind Bobade allowed Sonu Sood to withdraw the application.

Let us tell you that the Bombay High Court recently rejected actor Sonu Sood’s appeal and interim application, in which he challenged the notice issued by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on illegal construction in his residential building in Juhu.

Pro-Sood lawyer Amogh Singh sought 10 weeks time to comply with the notice issued by the BMC and requested the court to direct the civic body not to take action to demolish the building. The court refused to accept this plea. He said the actor has plenty of time to do so beforehand and can contact a civic body if needed.

Justice Chavan said the ball is now in the BMC office courthouse. You can contact them. You (Sood) said you were late. You had plenty of opportunity. Singh, a pro-Sood lawyer, said the petitioner (Sood) had not made any such alteration in the building which required BMC’s permission. So far, only changes have been made under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act.

It looks like this: In October last year, BMC issued a notice to Sonu Sood. Sood challenged that notice in civil court in December 2020, but the court rejected his appeal. He then moved to the Bombay High Court. The BMC said in its notice that Sood has made structural changes to the six-storey Shakti Sagar residential building and converted it into a commercial hotel. The actor claimed in his petition that there was no illegal construction in the building. The BMC has lodged a complaint against Sood at Juhu police station. Police have not filed an FIR yet.
