Like the one-day series against Sri Lanka, the Shikhar Dhawan-led India team has begun with a T20 series win. After a good innings, Suryakumar Yadav and Shikhar Dhawan scored a team-high 164 and then beat hosts Sri Lanka by 38 runs in 18.3 overs with just 126 runs. Fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar was awarded the man of the match award for his winning bowling. After losing against India, Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka was disappointed and called the match a turning point.

After the match, Shanaka said, ‘The target of 164 runs is very good and I think this goal can be achieved. The Indian bowlers got off to a good start and we didn’t have enough middle-order batsmen to finish the match. Aslanka’s wicket proved to be a turning point. I think our bowlers have also done a good job of preventing them from running low. I hope we learn from the outcome of this match and do well in the next match.

Charit Aslanka hit the first six in all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s delivery and then hit his first six against debutant Varun Chakraborty. In the 14th over, Aslanka struck Emperor for his third six and then scored four. The team also completed their centuries run in the same over. Sri Lanka need 58 runs to win the last five overs. Aslanka tried to play a big shot on Chahar’s delivery and hit Prithvi Shah on a deep mid-wicket. He hit three sixes and four boundaries in his 26-ball knock. Chaher also threw a double over the same over.
