Karthi Vikram aka Sultan, Robotics Engineer. Sultan’s father (played by Napoleon) plays Do-Gooder, the Messiah (about 100 of them), who has an army of rowdies at his disposal. When the new police commissioner vows to make the city crime-free, the gang run by the Sultan’s father comes to the scene of the encounter. The Sultan intervenes and requests to improve the rowdy but the process is not as easy as he thought. Whether the Sultan succeeds in improving the rowdies forms the core of the story.

From Ram Gopal Verma’s Sarkar to Mahesh Babu’s Maharishi and Kamal Haasan’s Thevar Magan; The Sultan gets much credit from these films. The Sultan’s attempt to improve the rowdy through agriculture is similar to what Maheshi Babu chose to do in Maharishi (he left everything and took up farming for his best friend). Karthi’s attempt to make people abandon their hooliganism at their own cost of living is similar to what we saw in Thevar Magan. Despite being borrowed from a handful of films, Sultan still manages to engage and entertain, making it a highly capable but fun action drama.
The film stands out for its action choreography. Some of the action extensions offer an engaging experience. However, the film has no effect with its story or characters. Other than the role of Karthi, no other actor gets a meaty side to the essay. Rashmika, who is mostly out of her debut in Tamil cinema, and who plays major antagonists. Sultan is all kinds of Karti and he is in his element, shining in a role he cannot play well.
Sultan is your best commercial action film that hits the gallery and is heavily involved, thanks to over-treatment and packaging.
