Supreme Court rejects CBI report on Sushant Singh’s case

PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court directing the CBI to submit a status report on the death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Notably, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead on June 14, 2020 at his residence in Mumbai. CBI, ED and NCB are investigating Sushant’s case.

What matters

Explain that in the case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, nothing is ever clear. The review petitions filed on charges of conspiracy to kill the actor were heard in ADJ One Court on Thursday. The lawyers of the accused filmmakers Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ekta Kapoor, Bhushan Kumar and Sajid Nadiawal were present at the court. On behalf of Bhansali, lawyer Saroj Kumar and the other three filmmakers Priyaranjan alias were also present in court. This is the first time Bhansali’s lawyers have attended.

The court has set a Dec. 9 date for the next hearing. Previously, filmmakers had noticed the absence. On August 14, lawyer Sudhir Kumar Ojha filed a revision suit in the District and Sessions Court against eight film personalities including Salman. The complaint was filed in CJM court in July. On July 8, the CJM court dismissed the complaint, citing the incident as not in jurisdiction. The lawyers filed a revision suit against the order.
