Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case | CBI to probe; The Maharashtra government has also been asked to provide support

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has ordered a CBI probe into the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The court’s decision comes as it considers a petition filed by Riya Chakraborty, the accused in the case.

Sushant was found hanging on June 14 at her residence in Mumbai. But fans and friends were on the scene from the beginning, blaming the mystery on the death. One month after his death, the actor’s family approached the police with a complaint.

The family had lodged a complaint against Sushant’s girlfriend Riya Chakrabarty. Riya’s family has accused her of betrayal of trust and money laundering and has demanded that she be charged with inciting suicide.

The family had lodged the complaint in Sushant’s hometown of Bihar. Riya, however, approached the Supreme Court seeking transfer of the case from Bihar to Mumbai. After hearing the plea, the court directed that the probe be left to the CBI.

Serious allegations have been leveled against the Mumbai police, which is currently investigating the case. It was alleged that they were taking a stand in defense of many high-ranking officials.

Their non-cooperation with the police team from Bihar for the investigation also strengthened the allegations and suspicions. This was followed by a strong demand that the case be referred to the CBI. A global campaign was also launched to raise the issue under the leadership of Sushant’s family and friends.

Following this, the court will give a favorable verdict today. The order was passed by a bench headed by Justice Hrishikesh Roy. It has also asked the Maharashtra government to ensure all possible support in the case. The court also directed the CBI to immediately hand over all the important documents of the investigation conducted by the Mumbai police so far.
