Thailand Open 2021: India’s P Kashyap retires in the first round

India’s Parupalli Kashyap, who retired from the first round on Wednesday, dropped out of the Thailand Open Badminton Tournament after suffering a corona infection. When Kashyap left the game against Canadian Jason Anthony Ho-shui in the first round, the Canadian players were 21-9, 13-21, 14-8 in 56 minutes.

In the men’s doubles, MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila lost in the first round. In mixed doubles, B Sumit Reddy and N Sikki Reddy lost in the first round. India’s top female player PV Sindhu was eliminated in the first round of singles yesterday.

In the men’s doubles, Indian pair Satviksiraj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty started the second round with a win. The Indian pair defeated Kim Ji Jung and Lee Yong Dee 19-21 21-16 21-14 in an hour and eight minutes match.
