Tata Motors’ electric car, the Nexon EV, has received positive consumer feedback since its release. The Tata Nexon EV is currently the best-selling electric passenger vehicle in the country. Petrol and diesel prices have been rising rapidly, which has led to increased sales of electric vehicles. Tata Motors has also benefited directly from this.
In fact, Tata Motors claims that the demand for the Tata Nexon EV is the same as the diesel version of the vehicle. At a press conference, Tata Motors Chief Financial Officer PB Balaji said in July 2021 that orders for the Nexon EV, equivalent to the diesel variant, had been received. Consumers are gravitating towards electric vehicles because of FAME-II benefits and the subsidy offered by the state government, he said.
There are 10 electric vehicles coming by 2025
The company expects that Nexon EV sales will soon reach 5 percent of total sales. Tata Motors sold a total of 1,766 units of Nexon EVs in the first quarter of FY2022 (April-June). A total of 53,800 vehicles were sold during the period. In view of rising demand for the Nexon EV, the company has announced the launch of 10 electric vehicles by 2025.
