Tata Motors’ electric car, the Nexon EV, has received positive consumer feedback since its release. The Tata Nexon EV is currently the best-selling electric passenger vehicle in the country. Petrol and diesel prices have been rising rapidly, which has led to increased sales of electric vehicles. Tata Motors has also benefited directly from this.

In fact, Tata Motors claims that the demand for the Tata Nexon EV is the same as the diesel version of the vehicle. At a press conference, Tata Motors Chief Financial Officer PB Balaji said in July 2021 that orders for the Nexon EV, equivalent to the diesel variant, had been received. Consumers are gravitating towards electric vehicles because of FAME-II benefits and the subsidy offered by the state government, he said.

There are 10 electric vehicles coming by 2025
The company expects that Nexon EV sales will soon reach 5 percent of total sales. Tata Motors sold a total of 1,766 units of Nexon EVs in the first quarter of FY2022 (April-June). A total of 53,800 vehicles were sold during the period. In view of rising demand for the Nexon EV, the company has announced the launch of 10 electric vehicles by 2025.

The Tata Nexon EV is quite popular in its driving range. The company claims to travel more than 300 km at full charge. It has a 30.2kwh battery. With a fast charger it can charge up to 80 percent in 1 hour. With a 15A charger (normal charger) the battery takes 8.5 hours from 10 to 90 percent. It gets a 7-inch TFT display with semi-digital instrument cluster, Auto AC, Auto Headlamps, Sun Roof, 7.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system and connected car technology. Prices for the car start from Rs 13.99 lakh to Rs 16.56 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
