The price of junk paper has reached Rs 24 per kg, no matter how much junk you buy

Prior to Corona, the price of junk paper at Rs 10 to Rs 13 per kg has reached Rs 22 to Rs 24 per kg today, but you may be buying the old one at the same price. Homemade junk paper is still being bought at Rs 10 to Rs 12 per kg, but scrap paper suppliers have increased their prices for paper mills by illegally storing it.

Speaking to IRPMA President Pramod Agarwal, it is having an adverse impact on the industry. Prices of handicrafts waste paper have reached Rs 22 per kg, while for Corona in the previous period it was Rs 10 per kg. IARPMA blamed the procurement and cartelization of waste paper suppliers for an unprecedented increase in waste paper prices.

Gold Price Review: Gold prices can drop until the wedding, up to 42,000 in the next one month

“Some scrap paper suppliers are controlling its availability and cost, and for this reason paper mills have little choice but to reduce their production,” Agarwal said. Paper mills are not in a position to raise the price of raw materials by Rs 10 per kg, and so the finished news printing and other paper prices are also at risk of rising, he said. Also, paper mills are not in a position to shut down their business because they have to bear many expenses, including interest and salaries.

The price of junk paper has doubled in the last six months

According to the Indian Agricultural and Recycled Paper Mills Association (IARPMA), recycled fiber based paper mills account for 65 to 70 percent of the country’s total paper and paperboard production. In the last six months, their main raw material, scrap paper, has doubled in price.

Attack on waste paper stock stations

In a letter to the Ministry of Commerce, he said the country produces 25 million tonnes of paper annually, and about 17 million tonnes of waste paper based paper mills. Any reduction in paper production is likely to have an adverse impact on the writing, printing, news printing and packaging industry due to the increase in scrap paper prices. The IARPMA alleges that due to some vested interests, the waste paper environment is being created artificially. IARPMA has appealed to the government to intervene and regulate illegal hoarding by attacking warehouses and waste paper stock stations. The IARPMA has proposed to the government to disclose the names of illegally stored paper holders.
