The Supreme Court has issued notice to Twitter and the Center on the demand for creating a mechanism for the investigation of fake news

The Supreme Court has issued notice to the central government and Twitter during a hearing on PIL seeking a mechanism to check fake news on social media platforms. The PIL was filed by BJP leader Vineet Goenka, seeking to control the content of social media platforms.

BJP leader Vineet Goenka has instructed the central government to formulate a mechanism to investigate fake news and inflammatory messages spread through social media, especially Twitter, through a public interest lawsuit. The petition has urged stringent measures to be taken to curb efforts to curb anti-India messages and spread violence in different parts of the country.

This case is combined with another application. A petition was filed in the Supreme Court in May 2020 for surveillance on Twitter, which is still under consideration. Let me tell you that the anti-India campaign was organized in the wake of the peasant movement.
