Tokyo Olympics: ‘Never been happy’, Sehwag and Sachin congratulate Indian women’s hockey team

The Indian women’s hockey team entered the semifinals for the first time in Olympics history. The women’s hockey quarter-final between India and Australia on Monday at the Tokyo Olympics saw India win 1-0. The Indian women’s hockey team recorded this historic victory over Gurjit Singh’s lone goal and it was accompanied by strong defenses. From master blaster Sachin Tendulkar to Virender Sehwag, all women cricketers have congratulated the Indian women’s hockey team. Sehwag has once again found a unique way to congratulate him. Sehwag shared video footage of Australian cricket coach Justin Langer with a congratulatory tweet for the India team.

This video clip is from when India won the 4-1 Test series 2-1 after winning the Gabba Test in Australia. In that Test series, many of Team India’s top players were out due to injury and the young cricketers performed brilliantly and defeated Australia’s full-strength squad. After losing the Test series, Langer told me that Indians should never be treated lightly. Sehwag shared this part of the video clip. Sehwag wrote on Twitter that the Indian women’s hockey team recorded this victory with a confident and never-ending spirit.

Sachin Tendulkar wrote, ‘Yesterday’s men’s team and today’s women’s hockey team enjoyed watching it. Congratulations to the Indian women’s hockey team who reached the semifinals of the Olympics for the first time. The whole country stands on your back.

Gurjeet scored the decisive goal in the 22nd minute through a penalty corner. After this, the Indians put their full strength into the goal save, which was a success. Goalkeeper Savita played an excellent game and the rest of the defenders supported her well.
