Lulu Group International, based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has announced the establishment of a Food Processing Center in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, where a variety of agricultural products will be sourced. Yusufali MA, President of Lulu Group, made the announcement on Thursday at the UAE-India Food Security Conference 2020 with a delegation headed by Jammu and Kashmir General Secretary (Agriculture Production and Horticulture) Naveen Kumar Chaudhary.

“In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s UAE visit in 2019, Yusufali said the Lulu Group will focus on sourcing a wide range of agricultural products from Jammu and Kashmir. The group has so far imported more than 400 tonnes of Kashmiri apples despite several challenges in the recent past due to a viral epidemic.

Yusufali said the Lulu Group is one of the leading importers of food and non-food products from India and the establishment of a new center will increase Kashmiri products exports to Gash Cooperation Council (GCC) and other countries. The GCC is an organization of six Arab countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain.
The outcome of the meeting is much better and several decisions have been taken to promote the export of agricultural and horticultural products from the Union Territory to the entire Gulf using Lulu Group stores.
