UPSC Lateral Entry 2021: UPSC Repeals Lateral Entry Appointment Again, Opportunity to Become Direct Joint Secretary in Ministry

UPSC Lateral Entry 2021: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has once again appointed a Joint Secretary (Joint Secretary) from the side entrance. The officers who are usually elected in the Civil Service Examination, Forest Service Examination or other Central Services Commission (UPSC) examinations are appointed to the post of Joint Secretary after a long career. But professionals hired by Lateral Entry will have the opportunity to work directly with the Joint Secretary. Private and experienced professionals will be appointed in this regard.

UPSC has taken this appointment on a three-year contract. It can be extended to 5 years depending on the performance. Interested candidates can apply for 30 vacancies in Joint Secretary and Direct (Group A) post in various vacant ministries by going to www.upsconline.nic.in till 22 March 2021.

Option
There will be no written examination. They will be shortlisted for interview based on the candidate’s applications. The interview is chosen based on achievement. Candidates are required to show their records during the interview.

But the Modi government introduced the lateral plan a few years back. Through this scheme, private sector specialists are directly appointed to the post of Joint Secretary of Ministries.

Earlier, in June 2018, applications were invited for the post of Joint Secretary through a ‘direct recruitment system’. A total of 6,077 people applied for it. Under this, nine private sector experts have been selected for the first time in the post of joint secretary in various departments of the central government.
