There is an increasing number of teachers in Uttar Pradesh funded Sanskrit schools and affiliated primary schools. The State Government has delegated the responsibility of recruitment to these schools to the Selection Board. Later, the government decided to appoint the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission but so far the Commission has not been in existence or the selection board has not been able to begin the process.
The selection board is postponing the training of Graduates (TGTs) and Spokesmen (PGTs) trained in aided secondary schools. The government amended the rules by a notification dated February 18, 2019 and gave the Board of Management the option to appoint teachers in primary schools affiliated to subsidized secondary schools.
In September, Additional Director Secondary Dr Mahendra Dev called for details of vacancies of teachers in primary schools affiliated to the state. According to him, out of the 4838 posts sanctioned in 553 schools, 1565 teachers are vacant. On the other hand, in Sanskrit schools the situation is worse. Currently, of the 958 schools in the state from 6th to 12th grade, there are 117 such schools where there are no teachers left.

Of these, 58 funded Sanskrit secondary schools are closed due to shortage of teachers. After the formation of the new government in 2017, the selection board was given the responsibility of appointing Sanskrit schools. The Department of Education sent a request for the recruitment of 1282 teachers a year ago but the recruitment has not started yet.
