Uttarakhand High Court orders examination of all government teachers’ posts

The Uttarakhand High Court has directed the state government to submit its report to the court within three months on the recruitment of all teachers of government schools in case of teacher recruitment based on fake degrees. The order was issued by the court against 3500 teachers recruited on the basis of forged and invalid degree
A PIL hearing was held.

The petitioner’s advocate MC Kandpal said, ‘Last year, the PIL was filed by the Haldwani Student Protector Welfare Committee, alleging that around 3500 teachers in the state’s primary and higher primary schools were hired on the basis of forged documents. Because of this, the quality of education in many schools in the state has deteriorated very rapidly.

The government has asked the court for 6 months to submit an inquiry report, but the court has ordered the report to be submitted in just 3 months.

The state government had earlier stated in its affidavit that the SIT was investigating the matter and it was found that 84 teachers were serving on the basis of forged documents.
