Pakistan want to continue the rhythm of the Test series in the three-match T20 series that starts on Thursday against South Africa, in which they won 2-0. Pakistan bowling coach Walker Younis told reporters at a virtual press conference in Lahore on Wednesday, “The outcome of the Test series will affect the T20 series,” adding, “I cannot predict the true outcome of the T20 series but you will definitely see good results.”

Pakistan recorded two stunning victories in Karachi and Rawalpindi, beating South Africa for the first time in 18 years in a Test series. Fast bowler Hasan Ali took 10 wickets in Pakistan’s 95-run win in the second Test, South Africa lost seven wickets for just 33 in the second innings and the team were reduced to 274.

South African T20 regulars are without captain Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis, Rasi van der Dusen, Kagiso Rabada and Lungi NGD. All of these players were part of the Test squad in Pakistan but South Africa had to go through a three-Test series against Australia. The South Africa T20 team was heading to Pakistan when Australia decided to leave the series and it was too late to retain the same team.
