WPI: Inflation reached 10.49% in April

During the corona period, it seems that inflation does not allow the common man’s hips to be straight. With petrol-diesel and domestic LPG prices already haunting the road, the wholesale price-based inflation hit an all-time high of 10.49 per cent in April. This information was provided in government figures on Monday. It was 7.39 per cent in March. At the same time, it was at 4.17 per cent in February and was at a 27-month high at the time. Inflation has risen due to increases in food and fuel and electricity prices. Wholesale inflation stood at 2.03 per cent in January, compared to 1.22 per cent in December 2020.

1.22 per cent in December 2020

Wholesale prices-based inflation rose to 2.03 per cent in January 2021 even after food prices eased. This is mainly due to the increase in the cost of manufactured goods. Wholesale Inflation (WPI) was previously 1.22 per cent in December 2020 and 3.52 per cent in January 2020. Wholesale food inflation fell to minus 2.8 in January 2021.
