WTC Final 2021: Rain interrupted for fourth consecutive day, Former India and New Zealand cricketers angry at ICC

The final match of the ICC World Test Championship between India and New Zealand is taking place in Southampton. Rain remained the villain for the fourth consecutive day of the Test, with no ball bowled in the first two sessions. It looks like the WTC final is heading towards the draw. Meanwhile, former cricketers from India and New Zealand have pledged to the ICC to set aside just one day’s reserve for WTC’s first winners.

While interacting with Star Sports, VVS Laxman said, ‘This is very sad for fans. I think the ICC has not made the right rules. Finally you need to get a champion. Having attended a long time, I was confident that 450 overs would be completed by doing 90 overs in 5 days. I expected something like this from the ICC. We were very curious that the reserve day existed, but I don’t think the match would end after the reserve day if the rain continued.

Former New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond also admitted that the match was heading for a draw due to rain. “Both teams want to play to win. Secondly, the pitch is helping the bowlers a lot and if we play well for three or four days, we can easily get results. But, I am VVS. I would like to see 450 overs played so that the team can come up. At the same time, former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar said that if India manages to score between 150 and 160, it will be difficult for New Zealand in the fourth innings.
