Youth released from work in UAE, postpones marriage to peasant movement, stays here until the war is won

Satnam Singh, who works in a UAE company, got two months leave after two years. He had come to India to get married, but changed his plan after coming here. Returning to their home in Jalandhar district of Punjab on November 29, Satnam and his elder brother and their village farmers have been protesting against three new farming laws on the Singhhu border.

The 29-year-old Satnam came to Punjab to spend two days with his parents, then bought a new motorcycle and flew to the Delhi-Haryana border with his friend.

Satnam Singh, who works as a plumber at a Abu Dhabi company, says the marriage can be postponed. Jobs can also be postponed. Satnam’s parents asked him to get married during the holidays, but he preferred to stay at the protest site. When asked how many days you plan to stay at the protest site, Satnam Singh said the fight will be here until it is won. Before taking a job in Abu Dhabi, I said I was a farmer. I need to save my space first.

Notably, thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and other states have been camping in many borders of Delhi for more than three weeks, demanding the repeal of the new agrarian laws, fearing this could lead to corporate overtones. There are benefits and the traditional wholesale market is eliminated and the MSP system is over.

The chaos of the center’s three new agricultural laws continues. Farmers who are adamant in repealing the laws have declared a cross-border war with the government on the issue. The farmers’ movement along the Delhi border continues today. Farmers have appealed to the government to accept their demands quickly. Explain that farmers have recently enacted three new agricultural laws – the Producers Trade and Trade (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Price Guarantee and Agricultural Services Act, and the 2020 Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act.
