Friday night tremors were felt in several states including Delhi-NCR. The beginning of the year 2021 has not been two months and this is the second setback. However, in 2020 there have been 13 earthquakes in Delhi. According to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Earth Sciences, India experienced a total of 964 earthquakes last year, 13 of which were experienced in NCR.

These are earthquakes that have a magnitude of 3 or greater on the Richter scale. Dr. Harsh Vardhan, the Minister of Earth Sciences, informed the Lok Sabha that the US Geological Survey is working on a project to inform the earthquake.

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck northwestern India, including Delhi. The epicenter of this earthquake is Tajikistan. Apart from Delhi, earthquakes have also occurred in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan.

From April to August 2020, four mild earthquakes occurred in the NCR, the focal point of which was in the region. The first earthquake of 2020 occurred on April 12 in Delhi and the second on May 10.

The Delhi-NCR region is close to tainted. The area is facing seismic hazards and by 2020 many minor tremors will be experienced.
