ChitradurgaSeven wildlife hunters were arrested on Sunday in a joint operation by police and forest department officials, who seized foreign guns, large quantities of cartridges and three vehicles.

Iqshu Dhanwa, son of Prafululla Chandra, a Shimoga-based farmer of international fame, has been arrested in Bangalore.

Three vehicles, including Scorpio and Mahindra Jeep, were seized from the accused. Police and forest department officials have been waiting for the arrest of professional hunters in the forests of Taluk.

The guns obtained by the hunters in the operation were sophisticated enough to shock both department personnel. More than 50 cartridges and bullets of telescopic cipher guns, air guns, point 22 pistols, pistols and guns have been seized. These were manufactured in America and Sweden, officials said.
