Bigg Boss 14 contestant John Kumar Sanu has apologized for making comments he thought were anti-Maharashtra. The Colors shared a video of their apology.
John had taken up the issue with co-contestant Nikki Tamboli speaking in Marathi on the show. The channel issued a letter of apology to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and promised to remove these comments from future airing. MNS Film Workers Union chief Amaya Khopkar said she was not convinced and wanted to apologize for her performance. He said John would be shown his position even after he apologized. “We make sure John doesn’t get a job in Mumbai. Anyone who hates Marathi should leave Maharashtra.”
Colors’ shared video begins with Bigg Boss telling John that he won’t tolerate any discrimination on the show. “Namaste, Mera Naam John Kumar Sanu Hai. Maine Kuch Dino Pehle, Anjane Mae Hai Sahi, Magar Maine Ek Galti Ki, Jisseh Marathi Logan Co, Unr Unke Sentiments Co Thes Pahunchi Hai. Main Issue Bath Ke Liye Sincerely Sorry Kehna Chahunga. In its letter of apology, Viacom 18 Media said it respects all languages and has noticed the objections and has taken corrective measures to remove the offending part from all future broadcasts. It added: “We apologize if we have inadvertently hurt the feelings of the people of Maharashtra because the same comment was circulated in Marathi.”

John asked Nikki not to speak in Marathi with fellow contestant Rahul’s doctor and said “Morocco chid hoti hai (which irritates me).” The statement did not go down well with Shiv Sena leader Pratap Sarnayak and MNS leader Ameya Khopkar, who condemned the statement and demanded an apology, otherwise the shooting of Bigg Boss 14 would be stopped.
