JEE 2020: An 18-year-old student has missed the IIT Bombay electrical engineering course because he clicked on the “incorrect” link to “recklessly” skip the process. Following this, Agra student Siddhant Batra approached the Supreme Court.
The student appealed to the court to direct the IIT to admit him. Prior to this, IIT had ruled out any intervention at this stage because all positions in the syllabus were filled and admission rules had to be followed. IIT says Batra may apply again at JEE (Advance) next year.
Batra, ranked 270th All-India at the JEE (Advanced) Examination, claimed in her application that she had inadvertently clicked the wrong link for leaving the seat. According to the petition, Batra’s intention was to secure the seat.
Batra’s petition on November 23 was dismissed by Bombay High Court Chief Justice Deepankar Dutta and Justice GS Kulkarni. At the same time, in a petition filed in the Supreme Court, Batra has requested IIT to consider its admission case on the basis of human rights. At the same time, they have been requested to raise a position. After the death of the parents, the student lives with his grandparents.
