The country’s largest government bank, State Bank of India (SBI), has warned its customers to link their PAN with Aadhaar to avoid any inconvenience. “We advise our customers to link their PAN with Aadhaar to avoid any inconvenience and enjoy a seamless banking service,” SBI said in a tweet.

It is mandatory to link PAN with Aadhaar, the tweet said. If the PAN and Aadhaar are not connected, the PAN will be disabled, there will be a problem with the transaction. The last date for linking PAN with Aadhaar is 30th June 2021.

“Given the difficulties of taxpayers, the central government has issued a notification for extending the Aadhaar number of deadlines and linking it with PAN to 30th June 2021,” the finance ministry said. The government has expanded several times since July 2017 to link Pan-Aadhaar.

PAN is mandatory for many financial transactions, including opening bank accounts, depositing money in bank accounts, opening demat accounts, dealing in fixed assets and dealing in bonds. Aadhaar is biometric based and cannot be obtained on any other identification document.
