SBI has warned – Do not rob in case of online FD

SBI, India’s largest government bank, has warned its customers and the public about online fraud in the form of Fixed Deposit (FD). The bank said it had received customer complaints about fraud in online FDs.

The bank has asked its customers not to share personal details like passwords / OTP / CVV / card numbers to prevent cyber crooks from accessing their accounts. Also, the bank says it will never ask for these details by phone, SMS or mail. “We have received reports that cybercriminals are creating online FDs in customer accounts and we have received reports that customers have been prosecuted for fraud,” the SBI said in a tweet.

SBI used social media to deliver this message to its account holders. The bank reported on Twitter that this new form of cyber fraud has been reported, where fraudsters are using the victim’s FD account to withdraw money. Significantly, digital banking has grown rapidly during the corona era. SBI, including the Reserve Bank, has already issued a warning to customers. In November last year, the SBI warned against cyber fraud, and took some necessary steps.

This is a spurious result

The bank said that when it comes to fraudulent work, fraudsters (fraudsters) first create fraudulent customers’ FD accounts with their net banking details and transfer some amount and then take advantage of it. The SBI says that the fraudsters call themselves OTPs by customers, claiming to be bank officials. After this, if the customer shares the OTP, the FD money is transferred to their account.

Never make these five mistakes

1 Do not give OTP, PIN, CVV to anyone
The bank said it would not share your debit card or credit card with an OTP, PIN, CVV or UPI pin. Most frauds are done in the name of changing passwords by making a phone call. Customers who cheat are told that if the password is not changed, the card will be blocked. Customers are afraid of them and they get caught.

2 Never save bank account information on the phone

Experts say never store your bank account information on the phone. Fraud can occur when the phone is stolen.

3 Do not give ATM card information

Do not share your ATM card details with anyone.

Never trade online from the public internet

To protect your bank account, you must avoid online transactions through the public Internet, the open network and the free Wi-Fi sector. Using these open networks can leak your information and increase your chances of online fraud.

5 The bank will never ask for this information

Any bank does not ask for information about user ID, PIN, password, CVV, OTP, VPA, UPI etc. from its customers. So, when a person asks for such information over the phone or on the Internet, understand that it is cheating. Do not share such information with anyone.
