USA revealed – Haqqani Network is in the process of forming a new team with al-Qaeda

Pakistani Haqqani Network convicted of terrorist attacks on Sikhs in Kabul last March The US Treasury Department has revealed the matter. The US Treasury Department, in its assessment of its work to counter terrorist financing and money laundering, revealed that the Afghan Taliban was involved with al-Qaeda in February, even close to signing a deal with the US.

Former US President Admiral Mike Mullen has described the Haqqani network as part of Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) agency. Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) was sentenced to death last year in an attack on a Sikh shrine in Kabul. About 30 people have died.

In January, the US Treasury Department handed over some documents to the Pentagon, stating that “senior Haqqani network figures discuss the creation of a new joint unit of armed combatants, which is supported and funded by al-Qaeda.” However, no other details were given.

It is often alleged that the Haqqani network has made Indian interests a target in Afghanistan. Some reports have suggested that the Sikhs were attacked in March as they were unable to target the Indian embassy in Kabul. The document describes the Haqqani network as a “North Waziristan, Pakistan-based organization” operating across borders in eastern Afghanistan and Kabul.

In May last year, Afghan security forces detained eight members of the Haqqani network and Islamic State group in Kabul for their attacks on the Sikhs. The National Security Directorate, or Afghan govt, said at the time that the group was responsible for the Shia Hazara minority gathering and President Ashraf Ghani’s swearing-in ceremony and a rocket attack on the airspace.

Al-Qaeda is gaining strength in Afghanistan by continuing to work with the Taliban under Taliban protection last year, the Treasury Department said. This assessment is significant in view of the new US administration’s decision to review its agreement with the Taliban. The Afghan group has cut its ties with al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups and is taking steps to reduce violence.
