Patna: Police have seized more than Rs 2 crore in polling booths since the election was announced in Bihar. Now, police in Darbhanga district of Bihar have recovered Rs 1.10 crore from the vehicle while checking the vehicle.

Police have arrested two men in the case. The arrested accused have been identified as Rohit Bhandarwal and Santosh Paswan. Both are residents of Madhubani and the money was seized by the police.

The accused were going to take the money from Madhubani in a Scorpio vehicle and deliver it to Samastipur. “The money was seized by the police at Vishanpur,” Darbhanga District Collector Dr Thyagarajan said.

1.73 lakh cash was seized from the vehicle by the state’s Callie Check Post on Tuesday. About 450 grams of gold was also seized from another vehicle in the same check post. Recently in Patna, police seized Rs. 74 lakh from the vehicle of RJD leaders. Thus, as the election was declared in Bihar, more than Rs 2 crore was seized on the ballot.

The election will be held on October 28, November 3 and 7. The result will be published on November 10. The first phase of voting will begin on Thursday. Out of the 243 seats, 71 constituencies will be held on the 28th.
