Fodder scam: CBI charges Lalu Yadav on bail application

Former Bihar chief minister and RJD chief Lalu Yadav is still in jail. The hearing of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s petition has been adjourned to Friday in the Jharkhand High Court. The next hearing will be on February 19. In fact, on behalf of Lalu Prasad Yadav, presenting the answer in court, it is said that he has completed 42 months in jail, in which case the sentence given to him has been cut in half, so he should be granted bail.

The matter was supposed to be heard today but only then the CBI sought more time from the court to give its answer. Thereafter, Justice Apres Kumar Singh’s bench had directed the CBI to submit its report within a week and the next hearing was set for February 19.

Explain that former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has been in jail since December 23, 2017 after being convicted on three counts of the Mayan scam. After completing the half sentence, Lalu Yadav is already out on bail. On this basis, he filed bail in the third case in the High Court. The CBI has opposed Lalu Yadav’s statement that the half sentence should be completed. The CBI has sentenced Lalu Prasad Yadav to 37 months and 6 days in jail. The CBI has said that Lalu Yadav has four months to be sentenced.
