IPL 2021 SRH vs. RCB: How to play for RCB is different from playing for other franchise teams, says Glenn Maxwell

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 has been good enough for Glenn Maxwell so far. Glenn Maxwell has hit five sixes in his first two matches, not hitting a six in last season. Maxwell, who played for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) last season, is playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) this year. Maxwell is playing quite nicely under the leadership of Virat Kohli. He was named Man of the Match for his unbeaten 59 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Maxwell describes how RCB has proven itself to be a very diverse franchise team. AB de Villiers said he was getting a chance to play for free.

Glenn Maxwell, who was chosen as the matchmaker, said: ‘This is a good start. It is best to start this way. If you have good batsmen behind you, that’s fine. AB de Villiers will come to bat after you so you get the freedom to bat and this is the role I play in the Australia team. The support staff is supporting me too. It is a matter of using our experience. Set the wicket and then scored. Having these players at RCB is helping me.

Regarding how RCB differs from the rest of the franchise teams, Maxwell said, ‘Of the rest of the franchise team, I was expected to play big shots on the go, and I’m not very good at it. I think it’s a matter of changing some cultures. I think this is my fourth franchise team, which put some pressure on me too. So the fact that I started off well is good enough for me. I’m waiting for my chance at bowling. Washington is a beautiful superstar for us. I don’t bowl much, I am able to contribute to the batting and I think I will be more happy.
