On Friday, the Pakistani government banned large social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter and YouTube. The decision was made after violent demonstrations of a fundamentalist religious organization. The government feared that social media could be used to incite violence. The ban on all these platforms lasted only 4 hours. The organization has been banned from the government on charges of spreading violence.
What is the whole thing
In fact, an organization called Tehreek-e-Labak Pakistan (TLP) has been accused of spreading violence. The agency wanted to pressure the government to expel its ambassador to France over the blasphemous cartoon published last year. The nationwide protests began on Monday following the arrest of its head Saad Hussein Rizvi. The government banned the organization on Thursday after three days of violent demonstrations.

7 were killed, many wounded
Let us tell you that in many cities and towns of TLP supporters, there was a violent clash with police earlier this week. Seven people were killed and about 300 police were injured. To stop demonstrations after Friday prayers, the Ministry of Internal Affairs directed the Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) to suspend social media services for four hours from 11 am to 3 pm.
The PTA has not given reasons for the ban, but there are concerns that protesters may use social media to organize demonstrations, official sources said.
