Chennai’s victory was decided when Deepak Chahar’s bowling returned to the pavilion for only 26 runs in the Punjab half-time. The team did not recover and was able to score only 106 in 20 overs. Apart from Chahar’s four wickets, one wicket each was taken by Sam Karan, Dwayne Bravo and Moeen Ali. CSK started poorly in response to a 107-run target from Punjab and the team lost their first wicket in 24 runs. This was followed by a 66-run partnership for the second wicket between Faf Duplessis and Moin Ali.
