French Open 2021: Three-time champions Angelique Kerber and Dominic Thiem lose in the first round of the French Open

Three-time Grand Slam champion and former number one Angelique Kerber is knocked out for the third consecutive round of the French Open tennis Grand Slam. Ukraine’s qualifier Nhelina Kalina defeated Kerber 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the tournament for the first time.

Roland Garros is the only Grand Slam to win the Kerber title. He has played 14 times in Paris, of which he has lost eight. His best performance here is in the 2012 and 2018 quarter-finals. Kerber won the Australian Open and US Open in 2016 and Wimbledon Grand Slam in 2018.
