Will Virat Kohli’s army rule the world cricket like the West Indies and Australia? Know the answer by Sunil Gavaskar

When it comes to cricket history, the West Indies and Australian teams are definitely mentioned. Under the leadership of Clive Lloyd, the West Indies ruled world cricket in the 1970s and 1980s. With the backing of batsmen like Viv Richards and deadly bowlers like Malcolm Marshall, the West Indies, under the leadership of Clive Lloyd, proved to be the seed of every team. The West Indies won the 1975 and 1979 World Cups, but the team managed to reach the final in 1983. Similarly, Australia established its rule in the 1990s and has maintained its dominance in cricket for many years. Under the leadership of Virat Kohli, Team India has made its mark in world cricket over the past few years, and their iron is being accepted by everyone. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, however, doubts that this Indian team will be able to govern as West Indies and Australia.

Speaking on Cricket Analyst’s YouTube program, Gavaskar said, “I am not sure they (the Indian team) will dominate the way West Indies did. I’m not sure, but at some point they won’t be able to perform consistently, you should have seen it.

Gavaskar said, ‘Clearly not all 11 players are successful in cricket. But if four of them – two bowlers and two batsmen – are successful, how many matches will you win? And Team India has the potential to do the same. The Indian team has played fantastic cricket for the last few years. The team defeated Australia in 2018 and again in 2020 in their home Test series. Following this, Kohli’s side defeated England 3-1 in the home Test series.
