In the first match of the five-match Test series at Nottingham, India needed 157 runs to win on the fifth and final day with nine wickets in hand. However, Team India did well in the Lord’s Test and won the second Test and took a 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series. The third Test between the two teams will be played at Headingley from August 25.

Atherton added, ‘England have played both starters in their absence. These include big names like Ben Stokes, Joffra Archer, Chris Vox and Stuart Broad. In the first two Tests, England have benefited from the presence of their two legendary players – James Anderson and Joe Root – and this is Test cricket. Senior players can fix many of the team’s shortcomings. England did not make a collective effort in both Tests.
