The Lok Sabha on Wednesday approved the National Capital Terms of Delhi (Special Provisions) Bill (Amendment) Bill 2021 to regulate the unauthorized settlement of Delhi.
According to information, the Rajya Sabha passed the bill only on February 9 and it was approved by the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs (Hadeep Singh Puri) told the Lok Sabha that the bill would protect against unauthorized settlements by December 31, 2023.
Responding to the debate on the bill, Hardeep Singh Puri said that the 2011 census showed Delhi’s population at 16 million. “I think the population of Delhi will be closer to 2 crore in 2021,” Puri said.
