Bangalore: Transport Minister Lakshmana Sawadi, who is also the Transport Minister, said the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (SLTB) buses will be equipped with modern technology to prevent accidents.

Lakshmana Sawadi said that these measures, which are now being implemented, will help to alert the drivers if they accidentally cross the road in front of buses.

He was speaking after conducting a progress review meeting of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation, North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation and Northeast Karnataka Road Transport Corporation.

Over 100 crores of rupees are being wasted every year in the state as compensation for accidents. He added that these accidents are causing many deaths.

In many cases, there are times when our government transport agencies are compensated for accidents caused by negligent driving by other motorists. To avoid this, it was suggested to install equipment such as accident forecasting. Likewise, our transport authorities are busy with some high-tech firms. Sawadi said the company is already looking at acquiring the technology in collaboration with organizations that have already developed such tools.

Some of the more expensive private cars have implemented such a technology that promptly alerts drivers if they are asleep at night and accidentally breaks into the vehicle or individuals in front of them. “If such a modern experiment is successful in our government transport buses, there are many benefits,” he said.
