A four-Test Gavaskar series is being played between India and Australia. The third Test of the series will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 7. Team India suffered a major setback before the third Test, with star batsman KL Rahul unable to participate in the remaining two Tests due to injury. According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rahul’s left wrist is sprained, causing him to miss the remaining two Tests in the series.

Rahul was not part of the XI in the first two Tests, but was believed to be in the Sydney Test. Rahul’s left wrist was sprained during a batting practice at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday. They need at least three weeks to recover from it. After his injury, Rahul returns home and goes to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for rehabilitation.

Rahul is the third Indian to be injured in the series. Mohammed Shami was injured during the first Test and was out of the rest of the series, and fast bowler Umesh Yadav was replaced during the second Test. Rahul is now the third Indian cricketer to be added to the list. Given Mayank Agarwal’s poor form, it was believed that Rahul could take the responsibility of opening the innings with Shubman Gill.
