If the party wins the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal, an inquiry commission will be formed to investigate irregularities in the recruitment of teachers in the state, a BJP leader said.
BJP leader Shamik Bhattacharya alleged that there was no transparency in the recruitment of teachers even after 2014 and that the merit list released this week was no exception.
The West Bengal Primary Education Board on Monday released its eligibility list for the recruitment of 15,284 teachers. The board had earlier announced the hiring of 16,500 posts. Bhattacharya said, “The Trinamool Congress government has institutionalized the irregularity in the recruitment of teachers.

He said the state government should publish not only serial numbers but the entire merit list. The BJP leader alleged that there was considerable variation in the salary of para teachers in West Bengal. “On this issue, we will hold a protest march from the city’s College Street to the Esplanade area on February 19th.”
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had announced a three per cent pay rise for mercury teachers in the state budget, but teachers described it as inadequate.
