Landslides are forecast with wind speeds of up to 150 kmph on the Gujarat coast on Tuesday. The IMD has forecast that the storm’s eye will cross the coast between Porbandar and Mahua in Bhawanagar district.
West coastal areas including Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat continue to see spiraling rain bands around the cyclone and rainfall of more than 100 mm per day. Even after the hurricane has passed, South India will continue to receive more than 20mm of rain over the next five days due to beach winds.
Along the Gujarat coast, the maximum wave height is 8 meters high with significant wave heights on the west coast. After the landslide, Cyclone Tauktae weakens rapidly and travels inland to the northeast. However, in the course of the storm, substantial rainfall will accumulate across northern India.
