Cyclone Tauktae: Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra Live Updates

The Cyclone Tauktae was hit by severe thunderstorms Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. The weather office warned that Cyclone Tauktae is “likely to intensify further” over the next 12 hours and cross the Gujarat coast between Porbandar and Mahua in Bhavnagar district on Tuesday morning. Though the cyclone is heading towards the Gujarat coast, it is experiencing continuous rain and winds in Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra.

Three districts of Kerala – Malappuram, Ernakulam and Idukki – have issued an orange warning and yellow warning in all other districts. The IMD says the state will receive isolated heavy rainfall as the Cyclone Tauktae moves further north in the Arabian Sea. The state has been warned of rough seas and thunderstorms in the coming hours and the public is urged to take heed.
