Demand for Maruti cars has increased in rural areas, with the company selling more than 50 lakh cars

Srivastava points out that Maruti Suzuki India Ltd shifted its focus to rural markets in 2008. At the time it was noted that business in rural areas had been at least affected by the global economic crisis of the time.
