India’s one-day captain Mithali Raj has taken advantage of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) latest ODI rankings. Mithali scored 72 in the first ODI against England, and he is one of the top-5 batters on the basis of that. The 38-year-old batsman, who recently completed 22 years in international cricket, stepped up in the crease as the team struggled to two for 27. India scored 201 for eight wickets which was not enough against the world champions. England easily won the match by eight wickets. Mithali, who has been instrumental in leading India to the World Cup final (2017), has moved up three places to fifth place for the first time since October 2019.
