Bangalore: To facilitate the poor people to get rice, Pilot Anupillai Rice ATM is being installed at the slum in Bangalore.

The automated delivery system is being implemented across the country under the central government scheme. According to sources in The New Indian Express, such ATMs are being launched in five parts of Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra and Uttarakhand.

According to sources, rice ATMs are capable of 100kg to 500kg and are being installed on demand. Currently, the government is supplying rice, grain and other essential commodities to 1.27 crore households under the scheme.

Free grains are distributed to BPL card holders and distributed at regular rates to APL card holders. “ATM cards will be issued to the beneficiaries with biometrics, which is a starting point,” he said.
