Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy has ordered exemption for examinations other than college final examinations.
He said that in line with the students’ request, the UGC, based on the guidance of the Indian Council of Technical Education and the recommendation of the Tamil Nadu High Level Committee, has taken this step by exempting the Tamil Nadu Higher Education Department from examinations other than college final examinations.

It was ordered on 23.7.2020 to be exempted from the examination for this season only and to proceed to the next academic year. Based on that, the Government issued a guideline issued by the Department of Higher Education on 27.7.2020.
Students who are currently accepting the request and in their interest, on the recommendation of a high level committee set up by the Government of Tamil Nadu, will be exempted from writing the examination as per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission and the All India Council of Technical Education for students awaiting payment of fees for examinations other than the final term examinations. The Department of Higher Education has been directed to issue a detailed order in this regard.
