Former cricketer Deepdas Gupta explains why Ajinkya Rahane is not a batsman for 2015-16

India’s current Test captain Ajinkya Rahane’s performance has not been consistent for some time. Former India wicketkeeper Deepdas Gupta has also raised questions about Rahane’s performance. He scored 49 in the first innings in the final of the World Test Championships in New Zealand. But they couldn’t do much in the second innings. India defeated New Zealand by 8 wickets in the WTC final. He said he no longer looked like a batsman in 2015-16.

Former wicketkeeper-batsman, in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel, claims that Rahane was not the batsman he was at the beginning of the decade. He cited the example of his innings played in a difficult situation at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Rahane said the reason for his success abroad was because he was batting in the third spot for Mumbai and used to play with the new ball. Tewu like 2015-16 is not as confident.

Sri Lanka may field a second-class squad in the series against India

He said, ‘I don’t think Ajinkya Rahane is the player he was before. Rahane was unreliable in 2015-16. I see him playing for Mumbai. The pitch at Wankhede was wet and grassy and it was a nightmare for batting. But Rahane scored 4000-4500 in third place before playing for India. Speaking further on his footsteps, he said he remains unstable in his first 20 deliveries. Those who played big innings are full of confidence.
